Accessibility Features
With respect to our efforts to ensure accessibility, we have strived to implement the recommendations of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA, as published by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The accessibility features only apply to pages on this website.
This website includes the following accessibility features:
-
We provide text alternatives for non-text content. We provide captions for videos with audio.
-
The website’s information and relationships have a logical structure.
-
The website is accessible by keyboard only.
-
The pages have clear headings and labels.
Ongoing Process
Website accessibility is an ongoing process in which we are continually endeavoring to maximize accessibility. Although we work to make every page accessible to users we cannot guarantee that every page conforms to WCAG 2.0 Level AA. We cannot ensure the conformance of third party plug-ins and widgets. As such we do not claim full site-wide conformance, instead some pages have partial conformance as defined by WCAG Level AA. We chose to use the WCAG guidelines for conformance, as suggested by the Department of Justice in Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act.
Modern Slavery Statement - Last Update 06/15/2024
Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labor and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain.
The Family and Pet Guide has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains.
We are also committed to ensuring there is transparency in our own business and in our approach to tackling modern slavery throughout our supply chains, consistent with our disclosure obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
We expect the same high standards from all of our contractors, suppliers and other business partners, and as part of our contracting processes we include specific prohibitions against the use of forced, compulsory or trafficked labor, or anyone held in slavery or servitude, whether adults or children, and we expect that our suppliers will hold their own suppliers to the same high standards.
This policy applies to all persons working for us or on our behalf in any capacity, including employees at all levels, officers, and independent contractors providing services to us.
Responsibility For The Policy
The Family and Pet Guide has overall responsibility for ensuring this policy complies with our legal and ethical obligations, and that all those under our control comply with it.
The Family and Pet Guide's legal and finance teams have primary and day-to-day responsibility for implementing this policy, monitoring its use and effectiveness, dealing with any queries about it, and auditing internal control systems and procedures to ensure they are effective in countering modern slavery.
Line managers are responsible for ensuring those reporting to them understand and comply with this policy and are given adequate training for their role on it and the issue of modern slavery in supply chains at large.
Compliance With The Policy
The prevention, detection and reporting of modern slavery in any part of our business or supply chains is the responsibility of all those working for us or under our control. An employee is required to notify her line manager or the legal team as soon as possible if she believes or suspects that a conflict with this policy has occurred or may occur in the future.
Employees are encouraged to raise concerns about any issue or suspicion of modern slavery in any parts of our business or supply chains of any supplier tier at the earliest possible stage. If an employee believes or suspects a breach of this policy has occurred or that it may occur, she must notify her line manager or the legal team.
If you are unsure about whether a particular act, the treatment of workers more generally, or their working conditions within any tier of our supply chains constitutes any of the various forms of modern slavery, raise it with your line manager or the legal team.
We aim to encourage openness and will support anyone who raises genuine concerns in good faith under this policy, even if they turn out to be mistaken. We are committed to ensuring no one suffers any detrimental treatment as a result of reporting in good faith their suspicion that modern slavery of whatever form is or may be taking place in any part of our own business or in any of our supply chains.
Communication & Training
Training on this policy, and on the risk that the business faces from modern slavery in its supply chains, will be provided to staff as necessary on a job-role basis so that they know how to identify exploitation and modern slavery and how to report suspected cases.
Breach Of The Policy
Any employee who breaches this policy will face disciplinary action, up to and including summary dismissal for gross misconduct. The Family and Pet Guide may terminate its commercial relationship with suppliers, contractors and other business partners if they breach this policy and/or are found to have been involved in modern slavery.
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes the Family and Pet Guide’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31st December 2023.

The following are certain terms and conditions governing advertising published in the Family and Pet Guide (the “Directory”) for distribution in any media, including print and digital formats. Submission of insertion order for placement of advertising in the Directory constitutes acceptance of the following terms and conditions. No terms or conditions in any insertion orders, reservation orders, blanket contracts, instructions or documents other than this Rate Card will be binding on the Family and Pet Guide (“Publisher”), unless Publisher agrees to such terms and conditions in writing.
Agency Commission and Payment
1. Publisher may require payment for advertising upon terms determined by Publisher prior to publication of any advertisement.
2. Agency and advertiser are jointly and severally liable for the payment of all invoices arising from placement of advertising in the Directory and for all costs of collection of late payment.
3. If an account is placed with a collection agency or attorney for collection, all commissions and discounts will be rescinded or become null and void and the full advertising rate shall apply.
4. Agency commission (or equivalent): twenty percent (20%) of gross advertising space charges, payable only to recognized agents.
5. Invoices are rendered on or about the 15th of each month. Payments are due upon receipt, with the following exceptions: For all advertising not placed through a recognized agent, payments at Rate Card rates must be received no later than the issue closing date. Prepayment is required if credit is not established prior to ten (10) business days prior to the issue closing date. All payments must be in United States currency.
6. No agency commission is payable, and Publisher will not grant any discounts, on production charges. Any discounts received by advertiser on ad space charges may not be applied to production charges.
7. Advertiser shall pay any applicable international, federal, state and local taxes on the printing of advertising materials and on the sale of ad space.
Cancellation and Changes
1. Publisher expressly reserves the right to reject or cancel for any reason at any time any insertion order or advertisement without liability, even if previously acknowledged or accepted. In the event of cancellation for default in the payment of bills, charges for all advertising published as of the cancellation date shall become immediately due and payable.
2. Advertisers may not cancel orders for, or make changes in, advertising after the issue closing date. In the event Publisher accepts cancellation after any of the foregoing deadlines, such acceptance must be in writing, and such cancellation may be subject to additional charges at Publisher’s discretion.
3. The conditions of advertising in the Directory are subject to change without notice. Publisher will announce ad rate changes thirty (30) days prior to the closing date of the issue in which the new rates take effect. Orders for subsequent issues will be accepted at the then-prevailing rates.
Publisher’s Liability
1. Publisher is not liable for any failure or delay in printing, publishing, or circulating any copies of the issue of the Directory in which advertising is placed that is caused by, or arising from, an act of God, accident, fire, strike, terrorism or other occurrence beyond Publisher’s control.
2. Publisher is not liable for any failure or delay in publishing in the Directory any advertisement submitted to it. Publisher does not guarantee positioning of advertisements in the Directory, is not liable for failure to meet positioning requirements and is not liable for any error in key numbers. PUBLISHER WILL TREAT ALL POSITION STIPULATIONS ON INSERTION ORDERS AS REQUESTS.
3. The liability of Publisher for any act, error or omission for which it may be held legally responsible shall not exceed the cost of the ad space affected by the error. In no event shall Publisher be liable for any indirect, consequential, special or incidental damages, including, but not limited to, lost income or profits.
Miscellaneous

Advertising agency and advertiser jointly and severally represent and warrant that each advertisement submitted by it for publication in the Directory contains no copy, illustrations, photographs, text or other content that may result in any claim against Publisher. Advertising agency and advertiser jointly and severally shall indemnify and hold harmless Publisher from and against any damages and related expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising from the content of advertisements, including, but not limited to, claims of invasion of privacy, unauthorized use of names or pictures of living persons, trademark infringement, copyright infringement, libel and misrepresentation.
2. Publisher’s acceptance of an advertisement for publication in the Directory does not constitute an endorsement of the product or service advertised. No advertiser or agency may use the Directory’s name or logo without Publisher’s prior written permission for each such use.
3. The word “advertisement” will be placed above all advertisements that, in Publisher’s opinion, resembles editorial matter.
4. This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida without regard to its conflicts of laws provisions. Any civil action or proceeding arising out of or related to this agreement shall be brought in the courts of record of the state of Florida in Polk County. Each advertiser and its agency consents to the jurisdiction of such courts and waives any objection to the laying of venue of any such civil action or proceeding in such courts.
